Dozens of West Texans arrested in nationwide drug sting

ANDREWS, TX (KCBD) - The law caught up with more than two dozen people near Andrews. The suspects were arrested on drug related charges, all part of a federal sting called 'Project Deliverance.'

The 30 arrests in Andrews were part of 400 total arrests across the Southwest Wednesday. Agents targeted drug trafficking cartels notorious for exchanging drugs and weapons across the border.

Agencies seized 154 million dollars, 2.5 tons of cocaine and 69 tons of marijuana and other narcotics. Members of the Aryan Brotherhood and leaders in drug trafficking were among the captured.

Justice Department officials say the operation was a significant setback, but the war on drugs continues.
