LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) –  A new drug to treat Multiple Sclerosis is a step closer to approval.  On Thursday, an FDA advisory committee recommended the regulatory agency to approve Gilenia, made by Novartis.

Gilenia is taken orally, and would be an alternative to injectable medications already on the market.  There's still no cure, but Gilenia is apparently very effective in reducing the symptoms of MS.  FDA approval is likely to come sometime this fall.
