Lubbock man charged with assaulting police

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A bizarre incident Sunday night landed a Lubbock man behind bars for assaulting a police officer and a local business boarding up windows.

Police say 34-year-old Neal Watson kicked out 11 windows at The Pancake House at Avenue Q and the Marsha Sharp Freeway around 1:30 Sunday night. That's after authorities say he stole beer from the Wal-mart next door, hit two cars with his vehicle and then walked to a nearby 7-11 and kicked over a display stand.

When police arrived on seen, they say Watson lunged at an officer and hit them in the face several times.

Monday night, Watson is charged with assault on peace officer, theft, and resisting arrest.
