LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – It didn't take long for news from the regent's boardroom to spread across the Texas Tech campus and the Hub City Tuesday. Some Red Raider fans are relieved, others not surprised and some were disappointed.
After the Board of Regents meeting Tuesday KCBD NewsChannel 11 set out to see what Red Raiders thought about staying put in the Big 12. Some students have had their eyes on Texas during all this conference talk and say Tuesday's news was not really news.
"Me and my buddy are calling it the Longhorn 10," says graduate student Ryan Vasquez. "Now that we have to play every team in the conference it might make it a little more even no one can say one team had an easier year but on the same hand I think it worked out for other teams as opposed to Tech," adds Vasquez.
"PAC 16 sounded good to me as long as we are in a competitive conference and stay competitive that's the most important to me," says TTU student Robert Schampan.
Many students were pleased that they would not have to hop on a plane to head out to the West Coast and others were thankful rival games would still be on the schedule. "I'm glad the rivals are still in tact and we get to keep the Aggies around," says student Kevin Dillon.
One common theme among the fans however was that everyone is looking forward to the upcoming football season with Coach Tuberville.
