Woman charged with impersonating a ICE agent

Posted: Updated:

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Lubbock woman is in trouble, accused of impersonating a federal agent.

In court papers filed in federal court this week, Amalia Salinas Barnette is accused of acting like an employee with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE.

The papers state an undercover officer met Barnette at a Lubbock post office. Barnette said she was an ICE agent, and showed the officer a badge and ID. She said that, for a price, she could get U.S. citizenship papers for the officer. The officer gave Barnette more than $2100 dollars, and Barnette gave the officer the documents.

Barnette is charged with one count of impersonating an officer of the United States.
