Too Much Waste Water Cancels Farmer Stockman Show

Too much waste water has led to the cancellation of Lubbock's Annual Farmer Stockman Show.  A concern that has also led to the recent removal of thousands of prairie dogs at the site.

Tuesday morning, the City Council discussed the following options in dealing with the problem.

  • The city could buy more land to spread out the waste water.
  • They city could clean the water and send it to the Brazos River.
  • The water could be pumped into the Canyon Lakes.
  • The city could sell the excess water to private farmers.

The city has not yet made a decision. As for the Farmer Stockman Show, organizers say it will be back on again in 2004.
