SLATON, TX (KCBD) - A Slaton man is behind bars after police say he stole $36,000 from Citizens Bank around 11 a.m. on Thursday.
A teller in the drive-thru building was going to take money to the main branch when a customer pulled up. She turned to help the customer when the janitor, 30-year-old Darrell Eugene Cartwright, took the sack of money and ran.
The Slaton Police Department caught up with Cartwright at his home in the 3600 block of Itasca in Slaton where they arrested him. All of the money was recovered.
