LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock's unemployment rate is the second lowest in the state. The news comes as the Workforce Commission announces that jobs continue to grow in Texas.
The State's unemployment remained steady in May at 8.3 percent. That is below the national rate of 9.7 percent. Lubbock, however, is well below both rates at 5.7 percent.
Only Amarillo and Midland have less unemployment at a rate of 5.4 percent. Meanwhile, the number of non-farming jobs grew for the fifth straight month, with almost 44.000 positions added in May.
