Viagra for women may have to wait

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Women who may have been waiting for a female Viagra may have to wait a little longer. An FDA advisory panel decided a new drug, called Flibanserin, did not have enough of a benefit to overcome the possible risks.

Dr. John Thorp at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill led the study on Flibanserin. It is a pill that targets the chemicals in the brain that regulate mood and sexual desire.

"They reported increases in desire and increases in the number of satisfying sexual encounters per month," says Dr. Throp.

The committee decided not to recommend this for women saying there are just too many side effects which can include nausea, depression and dizziness.
