LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Texas Department of Agriculture hopes a new interactive map can help expand broadband access across the state. More than 96% of Texas homes have access to broadband service, but a quarter of a million do not. That's more than all households in the state of Vermont.

The new map shows not served areas, and a closer look at the South Plains shows several counties in that category. Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples hopes broadband service providers will use the map to plan future investment opportunities.
