Man arrested in hit and run that killed two elderly women

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - An arrest has been made in a deadly crash that happened on June 12 that killed two people and sent one to the hospital.

Police arrested Miguel Rivera late Thursday afternoon. He is charged with three counts of failure to stop and render aid leading to serious bodily injury or death.

Myrtle and Lois Porter both died when the car they were riding in plunged more than 100 fee off the overpass. The driver of the car, Willie Gshwend, said that he clipped the back of a Dodge truck before he drove off the highway.

A Crime Line tip led investigators to the pickup, belonging to Rivera, in a warehouse just two miles from the scene of the crash.

Rivera was booked in the Lubbock County Jail and has since bonded out.
