Asian Community Presents Petition To City Council

Lubbock's Asian Community asked the City Council for an apology from Lubbock Power and Light's Director, Carroll McDonald.

McDonald is accused of calling a member of his management team a "Chinaman" during a closed City Council meeting on April 10th. Thursday morning, members of the Asian Community presented a petition to the council expressing their concern over the incident.

"We think that Mr. McDonald may be a very good manager, which we don't know, but the way he referred to his quote colleague, referred to the employee of Lubbock City was just unacceptable." said William Lan.

The comment was directed at LP&L's Chief Operations Officer Gary Zheng. McDonald has since apologized, but the petition asks that the City Council take action to make sure nothing like it happens again.
