TCEQ takes action on 5 local violations

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Texas Commission On Environmental Quality took action this month against two local businesses one local person.  Two more local businesses will be considered soon by the Commission.

The TCEQ approved a $3,675 fine against Devin Borjas because of four underground fuel storage tanks in Hale Center. He's accused of failing to remove the tanks because they're no longer used and failing to file the proper paperwork with state regulators.

The TCEQ approved $1,750 fine against Allsup's #34 in Muleshoe for licensing violations on its fuel tanks. Also in June the Commission approved a $25,200.00 fine against the Amarillo Road Company of Hale County for not getting the proper permits before doing projects.

Early next month TCEQ is expected to approve a $1,750 fine against Lakeside Grocery near Buffalo Springs for licensing violations on its fuel tanks. TCEQ is also expected to approve an $8,976 fine against Plains Cooperative Cotton Growers. TCEQ says the PCCA denim plant continued discharging waste water after its permit expired. PCCA already paid the fine and made corrections.
