Consider This... 4th of July supports 2nd amendment

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - As we approach the holiday weekend, how appropriate that the Supreme Court stood by the Constitution and affirmed that Americans have the right to own guns for self defense…anywhere they live.

What's troubling is that four of the nine justices actually oppose certain gun rights clearly allowed by the Constitution. The Second Amendment states that "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." That's pretty clear.

Consider this: Those words shouldn't be open to interpretation but sadly they are. America wouldn't be America without the rights and freedoms we are afforded by the Constitution. The very basic of which is our right to defend our home and property. To have almost half of the highest court in the land question that is scary.

So this weekend, we as Americans have special reason to celebrate. The majority of our Supreme Court is still getting it right. After all, if you think about it, there wouldn't be a 4th of July without "The People" having the right to fight for their own freedom.
