LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The 4th on Broadway celebration kicks off on Saturday, July 3rd with a parade and a street fair with live music and food. Sunday, July 4th expect to see a firework extravaganza.
The street fair will kick-off Saturday, July 3, on Broadway from University to Avenue Q. Taste food from more than 50 delicious food and drink vendors and hear live music from more than 70 different artists on nine music stages throughout the day.
For the first time, the Street Fair will offer three cantina locations for adults wishing to enjoy cold beer. As always, the kids' area, a family favorite, will have lots of activities for kids to participate in. And be sure to visit the College Baseball Hall of Fame Fan Fest in the parking lot of First Baptist Church. This Lubbock tradition begins at 8 a.m. so you can show up early to watch the McDougal Companies parade, led by the Boy Scouts of America, which begins at 9 a.m. The street fair lasts until 4 p.m. and is sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank.
Gates open at 7:30 p.m. for the street dance, sponsored by the Lubbock Apartment Association and hosted by KLLL, on Saturday, July 3, at the Lubbock County Courthouse. This year the dance will feature live music from Lubbock favorite, the Josh Abbott Band, and opening performances by Bo Garza and Hogg Maulies. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance from Select-A-Seat and at the gate the day of the event.
Relax under the stars at the 2010 evening concert and fireworks extravaganza Sunday, July 4, at Mackenzie Park. Enjoy entertainment from Texas music legend Joe Ely as well as Cooder Graw's Matt Martindale and World Renowned Jazz Saxophonist Tom Braxton beginning at 7:30 p.m. Bring the family out early to enjoy the kids' area and Papa John's food court open to the public at 4:30 p.m. Premier seating tickets can be purchased for $25 per person at Select-A-Seat and includes exclusive seating in front of the stage and parking across the street.
This year the evening concert will feature a performance by the winner of the Lubbock's Got Talent Competition. More than 100 artists submitted demos over the past several weeks, and the top 40 will be performing on stage at the street fair Saturday, July 3. A panel of judges will select the winning artist to perform at the evening concert.
The celebration will go out with a bang at dark with the Gandy's Fireworks Extravaganza.
The 4th on Broadway celebration is the largest free festival in Texas and has been providing families with good food and quality entertainment to the Lubbock community for 20 years. This event is a production of Broadway Festivals, Inc.
