Hurricane Alex may affect your weekend weather

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - With Hurricane Alex coming ashore late tonight there is the potential for some heavy rain on the South Plains in the days ahead. But before that occurs, local rain chances will actually be on the down swing.

This morning cool and mostly cloudy with a few isolated showers. This afternoon mostly cloudy and warm. A few isolated thundershowers will bring a slight chance of rain. Tonight a few isolated thundershowers, mostly cloudy.

Thursday mostly cloudy, a slight chance of showers, and a warm afternoon. Friday mostly cloudy with an increasing chance of rain and thunderstorms late in the day.

This holiday weekend thunderstorms, some with heavy rain, are likely.
