LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Yes, it's true, rain coming from Hurricane Alex will hit late Saturday, Sunday and Monday according to KCBD meteorologist John Robison. Good news, the 4th and Broadway show will still go on regardless of the weather.
Broadway Festivities chairperson, Suzanne Comer says, the committee does not have a backup plan for the weather. She hopes everyone will just come prepared with rain gear. "Basically our plan is the show is going to go on. Along the street dance, we have tent after tent after tent set up. The music station has a tent, every cantina has a tent. Most of the vendors have a tent, so everything there is pretty much covered."
As for the fireworks rain or shine they will go off. However if there is lightning, Comer says plans for the big lights might change. "The fireworks go off in the rain too. As long as it's not a down pour and as long as it's not lightning."
Resident Brandon Key says the rain will bring a nice cool down and doesn't want it to stop the fun. "I'm going to be in the Little Caesars costume. If it's raining I don't know if I can wear it, it might soak up too much water. But it will be cool, because it's very hot in that costume."
Others like Ezekiel Cray will come prepared for any weather. "Definitely umbrella, I'm taking the kids out there, keep them dry just in case it does rain."
The festivities begin Saturday July 3rd on 4th and Broadway.
