DPS troopers investigating fatal three vehicle accident

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - DPS Troopers are investigating a fatal three vehicle accident that happened early Friday morning.

The accident happened shortly before 4:30 a.m. in the 8100 block of FM 2528. Authorities said the driver of a silver Jaguar ran into the back of a parked tractor trailer pulled into a driveway. While emergency workers were responding to the accident, a fuel truck hit the wrecked vehicles.

Senior Corporal John Gonzalez says, "Our condolences to the families and friends of this gentleman. I can't imagine what they went through trying to get this gentleman out seeing the vehicle slam into the vehicle."

Officials with DPS told KCBD NewsChannel 11 that the back seat driver, Sheik Saheb died instantly in the accident.

The driver was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries and the front-seat passenger has been treated and released from the hospital.

Both truck drivers involved in the accident were not injured.

"There are a lot of factors we have to look at, weather obviously, usage of the head lamps, fatigue. You know early in the morning people are just waking up trying to get to work." Gonzalez says.

On top of the two accidents, a third occurred when a Shallowater EMS responding to the scene, lost control and got stuck on nearby railroad tracks. This happened right before a train approached.

A spokesperson for BNSF Railway Company said the train locomotive engineer and conductor saw the distressed vehicle and stopped the train in time.

The ambulance has minor damage.

The three accidents are still under investigation.
