Lubbock, TX (KCBD) – The 4th of July holiday weekend is starting with inches of rain on roads which have law enforcement urging drivers to be careful. Whether you are one of an estimated two million Texans expected to take a road trip across the state or plans to stay right here in the Hub City for the largest free festival in the state troopers ask you give yourself plenty of time to get to your parties.
Nothing has been canceled for the 4th on Broadway celebrations and come rain or more rain the events go on, but the Street Dance has been moved indoors to the Fair Park Coliseum at the South Plains fair grounds.
The Texas Department of Transportation wants you to know that all it takes is as little as 6 inches of water to float some cars. DPS says the rain tropical depression Alex has dumped on the roads and highways across the state only makes the roads even more dangerous.
Troopers will be out in full force over the holiday weekend looking for drunk drivers and people who are not buckled up.
