US 87 in Lynn County now open to traffic

LYNN COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has reopened US 87 in Lynn County to traffic. Northbound traffic is running on one lane to allow additional water to be pumped from the right of way. US 87, from Lamesa to Tahoka, is open to traffic.

Some standing water is on the southbound lanes. Motorists should drive with caution.

The road was closed on July 4 after heavy rains dropped over 24 inches of water on the roadway and surrounding area. TxDOT crews worked around the clock throughout the week pumping water off the highway.

Several other farm to market roads in Lynn and Garza Counties remain closed due to flood conditions.
