LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - While hopes are high, doctors are keeping a close watch on Don Caldwell after his right lung collapsed Thursday morning following double bypass surgery on Wednesday.
"He had to have bypass surgery. And he did really well. Doctors are real happy with it," says Don Caldwell's son Toby Caldwell. "He had a little bit of a rough night. But, he's doing real good. Everybody's real happy... real optimistic."
Caldwell, who is one of the driving forces behind the Lubbock music scene, remains at Covenant Medical Center. He had a heart attack on Friday. Caldwell's son, Toby, tells us his dad's spirits are high and he's humbled by all the get well wishes he has received.
Over at the Cactus Theater, this weekend's performances of "Honky Tonk Angels" have been replaced with a special tribute concert Saturday night, featuring Donnie Allison and other members of the Cactus family. Tickets are $20. You can reserve yours by calling 762-3233.
