Lubbock new home construction dips in June

By James Clark | email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Just when it looked like Lubbock new home construction was rebounding, the latest numbers show a drop from May to June and from June of this year compared to the same time last year.

New home construction numbers are an important indicator of local economic health.

The latest numbers show 48 single family home construction permits.  In May it was 56, and in June of 2009 it was 77.  Based upon numbers from the city of Lubbock, KCBD NewsChannel 11 charted single family home construction for the last two and a half years.  The chart shows that so far 2010 is shaping up to be very similar to 2009 but way behind 2008.
