LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The owner of Pronto Check Cashing will not get $57,915 cash that police found in a traffic stop. Judge Sam Cummings ruled this week that Dane Church failed to prove he's the rightful owner.
Church filed his claim about a year ago. He says when police found the cash, along with cocaine base and a handgun during a routine traffic stop, that the money was a portion of proceeds stolen from Pronto Check Cashing.
The ruling means that the federal government will keep the money as part of drug forfeiture.
