LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Texas Tech plans on expanding the University in the future to almost 40,000 students, which means students will need more parking.
Raider Park, across the street from Jones Stadium, will give Tech 1,500 new parking spaces.
"Definitely we need the space because the school is getting huge," says Tech student John Scott Kimbele.
The 11-story parking garage will be geared toward the Red Raider Football experience, equipped with a beer garden, retail shops and a sports bar on the top of the garage.
"We haven't had a college or university yet that will have this atmosphere. We're hoping it create a whole new energy around to coming to the football games," says Clayton Isom, CEO of TAO Development Group.
Student will pay $350 to park two semesters in the lot starting spring 2011. Others can buy the VIP parking pass for $1,500. A portion of this will go to the alum association toward scholarships and will be 100% tax deductible.
Tao Development group promises a 100% money back gaurantee if the garage does not open before the first game against SMU, or you can not find a parking spot and you paid.
