Coronado hosts benefit for former Miss Teen Lubbock battling cancer

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Shawna Thomas is busy enough trying to get through her third year in pharmacy school, while planning a Lubbock wedding in December, but a surprising diagnosis earlier this year has forced the 25-year-old to juggle chemotherapy and radiation to fight stage three breast cancer.  Shawna is a Coronado High School graduate and a former Miss Teen Lubbock.

Now, friends at her Alma Mater are planning a benefit performance this Saturday to help with her spiraling medical expenses.  It will be held Saturday, July 17th at Coronado High School at 7 p.m. and tickets will be $15 at the door.
