WOLFFORTH, TX (KCBD) -
WOLFFORTH, TX (KCBD) - The Frenship ISD Board of Trustees approved a raise for faculty Monday evening.
On average, teachers, administrators, and support staff will see a three percent increase to start this coming school year. For teachers and support staff, that comes to around $1,200. Frenship also boosted their starting teacher salary to $34,000.
It's all an effort to stay competitive. "There was a need to increase teacher's salaries, even though with the current state funding formulas that's getting more and more difficult to provide," Frenship ISD Chief Operation Officer Greg Cartwright said.
Frenship administration says a commitment to cut non-payroll costs in the coming school year paid for the raises. They saved $440,000 without cutting staff or creating a deficit in this year's budget, and people living the district do not have to pay more in taxes.
