Lake Alan Henry fully reopens, but additional cleanup possible

GARZA COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - Lake Alan Henry fully open to visitors Wednesday morning.  People were not allowed west of the public boat ramp since flood waters ruptured two oil pipelines during the July 4th weekend.

The Texas Railroad Commission says crews still have to clean up the banks of the Brazos River that feeds the lake. Crews with Plains Pipeline have to remove oil impacted plants and soil along the river, and then they have to test to make sure there is no contamination left.  A Texas Railroad Commission Spokesperson says that could take several more weeks to complete.

The TCEQ tells us that they are meeting with Plains Pipeline next week.  Right now they're waiting on results from sample testing to decide if further cleanup is warranted.
