LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - One person was arrested after a SWAT standoff Thursday morning.
Jerald Reyna, 35, surrendered after a 30 minute SWAT standoff at a home in South Lubbock County. Reyna's common law wife called authorities saying he threatened her and her two young children, including an infant, with a knife and told her that if she called Deputies that he would kill the kids. She left the home, but the two children were still inside when eight officers arrived at the home around 7:45 Thursday morning.
Deputies blocked off Woodrow road near FM 179 as a safety precaution and traffic was diverted. The SWAT officers were outside of Reyna's home on Woodrow Road for about thirty minutes. Reyna came outside with one child in his arms, saying that he didn't know what was going on.
The children were safely recovered and taken to their mother.
Reyna was taken into custody around 8:15 a.m. for domestic violence, aggravated assault, injury to a child and prohibited weapon.
