Former Tech athlete taken off sedation drugs

Posted: Updated:

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Family and friends continue to pray for a former Texas Tech athlete and Smyer native.

According to the family, doctors took 22-year-old Blake Brazil off of the medication used to sedate him. The doctors are waiting for the drugs to wear off so they can continue to treat him.

A Facebook page was created for Brazil to allow family and friends to send their thoughts and prayers. The page says that Brazil was fighting pneumonia, but is doing better.

The family says there has been no response yet, but are continuing to pray for his recovery.

Brazil suffered a traumatic brain injury when he lost control of his motorcycle on July 10th. Brazil was a member of the Tech track team, and before that, a stand-out athlete for Anton High School.

If you would like to keep up with Blake Brazil's condition, or send your thoughts and prayers to him and his family, (click here).
