LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Texas celebrates 75 years of serving the citizens with the Department of Public Safety.
Twenty motorcycle riders will leave DPS headquarters in Austin on Sunday for a statewide tour including Lubbock. They'll be carrying pieces of the agency's history with them; for example, uniform items from the 1930's.
The Texas Legislature formed DPS in 1935 by combining the Texas Rangers with the motor officers of the State Highway Patrol.
The 13-day tour makes its way to Lubbock on July 28th.
