Citywide recycling booms in Levelland

LEVELLAND, TX (KCBD) - City leaders say for years residents wanted a recycling program in Levelland, so when it started last year, they knew there would be community interest, but nothing like this.

"We had estimated 12 to 15 tons the first year, and after one year we had over 30 tons so the community is really using it. We've expanded all we can in our existing facility so hopefully in the coming years we can expanded it more," says Rick Osburn, Levelland City Manager.

In addition to the drop off site, City Council recently approved curbside recycling pick-up in Levelland as well. While there is a charge for that, there is at least one perk. You don't have to separate paper from plastic.
