Levelland rail park hopes to pull in jobs and development

LEVELLAND, TX (KCBD) - Already under construction is Levelland's new rail park. The $8.3-million project started a little more than two years ago and will lay down 21-thousand feet of rail road track that loops around 200 acres.

That'll give businesses inside the loop direct access for shipping through the railroad. "This is one of the few rail parks that's ever been created probably in the last 2 or 3 years anywhere in the nation.  We hope that what this rail park does is create a 1,000 jobs and add a $100-million to the tax rows," Levelland Economic Development Corp. Vice President Chris Roberts said.

Right now, businesses can buy plots inside the loop. Construction should be done by the end of this October.
