LITTLEFIELD, TX (KCBD) - Right as you enter Littlefield, a large horseshoe-shaped design engages your attention. It is the Lamb County Veterans Memorial.
The names of more than 4,200 veterans from all over the county appear on the monument. They served in World War I, II, the Korean War, Vietnam, peacetime and the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Veteran Emil Macha remembers friends through this art piece that the community came together to create. "The best part is being able to honor the veterans. Of course we always honor the veterans and mention their names, but we don't always honor their families, but we appreciate their families too," Macha said.
Scattered throughout the memorial are memorial benches, engraved with sayings and quotations from loved ones regarding those they have lost.
