E. 19th Street improvements scheduled

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - At their regular meeting Thursday, the Texas Transportation Commission acted unanimously to approve roughly $250 million in highway project contracts funded by Proposition 12 bond proceeds, which were authorized by the Texas Legislature in 2009. This contract letting is the first for the $2 billion in highway projects approved for Proposition 12 funding late last year.

Included in these projects is the rehabilitation of East 19th Street in Lubbock.  Project limits for the East 19th Project are from Avenue A to 0.433 miles west of East Loop 289.

This project will rehabilitate the roadway pavement. The project will also enhance the overall safety of the roadway by providing up-to-date lighting, drainage improvements, guardrail, ADA elements (curb ramps) and add solar powered flashing beacons at the Broadway intersection.

Construction on this project is expected to begin sometime between late-fall or early 2011.
