LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Just a couple days ago state regulators blessed Lubbock & Power Light with permission to buy out certain aspects of Xcel Energy's Lubbock business. At about the same time Xcel officials announced a 2nd quarter profit of $140 million. For the first half of 2010 Xcel is reporting profits of $307 million. More than half of Xcel's 2nd quarter profit comes from its subsidiary Public Service Company of Colorado. Xcel's subsidiary Southwestern Public Service Company was also profitable but not as much as Xcel's Colorado operations. Xcel's guidance to stockholders indicates a possible profit of more than $700 by the end of the year.
