Man charged with felony after high speed chase through Lynn Co.

LYNN COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - New details have been released about a high speed chase through Lynn County over the weekend. Lamesa Police now say that it all began when officers tried to pull over an erratic driver in Lamesa.

The initial stop was for reckless driving in the 1400 block of 14th Street in Lamesa. The Lamesa Police Officer tried to pull 46-year-old Danny Lopez over when he took off. This all happened just before 2 p.m. Sunday. Lubbock DPS was asked to assist in the chase as Lopez was headed north at speeds up to 117 miles per hour.

The chase continued along Highway 87 towards Tahoka. It ended with no injuries just south of 3rd Street and Highway 87 in Tahoka. At one point the DPS Trooper asked for tire spikes to stop the vehicle but Lopez stopped before spikes could be used.

Lopez is being charged with a felony of evading arrest with a motor vehicle.
