LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Do you have a sister? I have two and it turns out that's a real advantage.A new study of almost 400 families from Brigham Young University finds having a sister prevents depression more so than having a brother.
The theory is that girls are more likely to be nurturing and want to talk about their problems. But that doesn't mean brothers are bad news. The study also finds that anytime kids are affectionate, they help ground each other. In a different way than parents can influence. The message in this study is that parents should encourage sibling affection.
