FLOYDADA, TX (KCBD) - A Floydada man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after he reportedly stabbed his girlfriend multiple times.

Nathaniel O'Neil Dove, 34, was arrested in Floydada around 5 p.m. Thursday for attempted murder and burglary of a habitation. According to the Plainview Daily Herald, when police arrived at the scene they found a 21-year-old Floydada female sitting on the front porch. She had suffered several stab wounds to her neck, head, face and eyelids.

Dove had fled the scene before the police arrived. The Floydada Police Department, Floyd County Sheriff's Office, DPS and Lockney Police started a manhunt. Officers followed a blood trail that led from the residence to an apartment complex about four blocks away where the trail ended.

Less than an hour later, officers were dispatched to a residence less than a half-mile away where the owners reported a black male had broken into their home. When officers arrived they realized Dove had barricaded himself inside a bedroom with a shotgun and other weapons.

The Plainview Daily Herald says that the Police Chief saw that Dove pushed the bed up against the window. The chief reached through the window and pulled Dove to the ground.

Dove was taken into custody and transferred to the Hale County jail. The 21-year-old was taken to a Lubbock hospital where she was being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
