Homicide victim laid to rest Saturday

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Family and friends should have celebrated former Army Sergeant Stanley Rodriguez' 35th birthday Saturday instead they laid him to rest. Rodriguez was the victim of Lubbock's 6th homicide this year.

A patrol officer found Rodriguez' car in the Canyon Lakes system early Wednesday morning. He died from a single gunshot wound to the head. His family says he worked the night shift at a local plant.

Detectives released pictures of his car and a shirt similar to the one he was wearing that night in the hopes someone may remember seeing him. If you have any information or tips that may help the investigation you are urged to call Crime Line at (806) 741-1000.
