Muleshoe police & TX Rangers investigate Friday murder

MULESHOE, TX (KCBD) - Muleshoe Police and the Texas Rangers are investigating an early morning murder. 

At 6:40 Friday morning, Muleshoe police got a 9-1-1 call for what they believed to be an "assault in progress." Chief Brian Frieda says when officers arrived, they found Benny Martinez, 42, dead in a residence.  

Frieda is not saying how Martinez died until an autopsy is completed on Monday in Lubbock.
