Texas Tech pounds Vancouver Island University, 100-34

VICTORIA, B.C. – The Texas Tech women's basketball team ended its tour of Canada with a perfect 4-0 record as it defeated Vancouver Island University, 100-34, Saturday evening in Nanaimo, B.C.

Head coach Kristy Curry went with a young starting lineup sending out three sophomores and two freshmen for the tip – Monique Smalls, Mary Bokenkamp, Christine Hyde, Ebony Walker and Haley Schneider.

Hyde paced the Lady Raiders in scoring with 14 points followed by Antiesha Brown with 13, Teena Wickett, Kierra Mallard, Bokenkamp and Casey Morris all added 12 points apiece. Jordan Barncastle and Marissa Ashton grabbed eight and seven rebounds, respectively. Wickett also finished with six rebounds, four steals and three assists. Mallard collected three blocks.

The Lady Raiders now head back to the United States on Sun., Aug. 15, with an overnight stop in Seattle before returning to Lubbock on Mon., Aug. 16.

Tech will open the 2010-11 season at New Mexico on Fri., Nov. 12.
