LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Concerns about State redistricting drew a large crowd to a Tech auditorium Wednesday afternoon.
Those in attendance voiced their opinions to the House Redistricting Committee. They're a group who will make the decisions for our area. In the last round or redistricting, West Texas lost a State Representative seat.
Congressman Randy Neugebauer, who was also at the meeting, says there is potential for the same outcome this time around, but census totals need to be reviewed first. "If you begin to loot people in the rural part of the state and move them more toward the urban areas, you diminish the number of people that can represent that voice," says Neugebauer.
Neugebauer says a few more seats on the Federal level might be added when redistricting is done, which will give Texas a larger voice in Washington.
