Police no longer looking for "Sophie" as a person of interest in murder

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Lubbock Police Department is no longer looking for a woman that goes by the name of Sophie as a person of interest in the murder of Stanley Rodriguez.

Lubbock Police found Stanley Rodriguez shot dead inside a car parked near MLK and East Canyon Lake Drive on August 4th. Now, one of the men charged in his death says he saw the killing.

Lt. Neal Barron with the Lubbock Police Department said they are no longer looking for Sophie as a person of interest. This comes after more investigation into the murder.

Michael Lewis, 22, is jailed for aggravated robbery. In an affidavit, police state that Lewis told them he saw 22-year-old Michael Whetstone shoot the driver of a red car parked at the East Canyon Lakes.

Lewis told police he met Whetstone at the Villa Town Motel and that Whetstone was setting up a robbery. He goes on to say that before Whetstone opened fire, he demanded money. Whetstone remains behind bars, charged with murder.
