Children receive basic school supplies from Stuff the Bus

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The South Plains Food Bank will distribute basic school supplies from now until August 27th from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Staff and volunteers will hand out much needed basic supplies donated through the 20th Annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive campaign.

"We understand that summer is a difficult time for many families," said SPFB Chief Executive Officer David Weaver. "Some parents are forced to choose between purchasing the basic school supplies their children need to start back to school and groceries for their family. We realize the importance of students having basic supplies to be successful in their school year and wanted to assist struggling families in providing some of those needed items. But it is really members of the community that make this drive so successful each year."

Lubbock County families needing assistance with basic school supplies need to contact their child's school for a school supply voucher. Then bring the voucher to the South Plains Food Bank.

More than 4,000 school supply bags have been made with this year's donations thanks to the community and local sponsors.
