State to appeal FEMA flood damage ruling for Lubbock County

Posted: Updated:

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - There may be  hope after all for businesses and home owners in Lubbock County whose property was damaged by the heavy rains and flooding in early July.

FEMA toured Lubbock County last month and determined it did not qualify for reimbursement. Now, the Texas Division of Emergency Management will now appeal that ruling, but they need your help.

Residents must let FEMA know how much damage they had. The State will then use that information in their appeal.

Individuals can register through the following means:

  • Phone: 1-800-621-3362
  • Hearing/Speech Impaired Phone: 1-800-462-7585
  • Web:  www.disasterassistance.gov (click on "Apply for Assistance Immediately")

Registering does not guarantee that individuals will be reimbursed; however, it is a necessary step in the appeal process.
