At 13 years of age, Phillip Duffy the second may be one of Mike Conaway's youngest supporters. As the son of a military man, Phillip says he knows what is important: education and homeland security. He is therefore encouraging his family, and other Lubbock voters to vote for the midland candidate.
"Because of his concerns in politics, I think he is the best to cover district nineteen, and congress," said Phillip Duffy II.
Over the last few weeks, young Phillip has been corresponding with Mr. Conaway by email. On Monday, Conaway visited Phillip at his Lubbock home, to thank him personally for his support.
"This country is populated with lots of young Phillips. They need encouragement, some that is focused. As early as Phillip is focused, I think it is unusual for a 13 year old to be this politically aware," said Mike Conaway. "I'm excited to see what he'll do in the next 40 years of his life, the impact he'll have on this country."
Phillip hopes to attend Harvard one day, where he would pursue a political science degree.
