Accident, people trapped, F.M. 179 closed off

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A wreck at F.M. 179 and Erskine Avenue Wednesday afternoon injured one man, and held up traffic for more than an hour.  DPS Troopers say a white pick-up turned in front of a black sedan on 179 around 4:30 p.m.

The car collided with the truck, and knocked it on its side. The truck landed right in front of another vehicle stopped at Erskine. Bill Farmer was in that vehicle, and says he immediately jumped out to see if everyone was okay.

"I walked all the way around and couldn't find a way to get into the truck; it was laying on its side, and I walked around it, and I could see the windshield was knocked out, so I yelled in there to see if he was alright. He said he was alright, just couldn't move," Farmer said.

First responders used the jaws of life to get the elderly victim out of the overturned truck. EMS took him to the hospital with minor injuries. His name has not been released.

The other driver was treated at the scene. The roadway reopened just before 6:00 p.m.
