LUBBOCK,TX (KCBD) - Only two people showed up at the public hearing Thursday morning to oppose the City Council's proposed tax rate increase.
"We've got to stick with what we tell people and not go ahead of the time." says Lubbock resident Mikel Ward.
The plan would raise property taxes by about 4 cents per $100 valuation. The increase would only be enough to offset the cost of projects approved by voters last November. The second and final hearing on the matter will be next Thursday at 7:30 a.m. in City Council Chambers.
