Lubbock City Council announces Sept. 3rd is College Colors Day

Posted: Updated:

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock City Council members gave special recognition to new Texas Tech Head Football Coach Tommy Tuberville in the Thursday council meeting. The Council announced September 3rd will be College Colors Day in Lubbock.

That is just two days before Tech kicks-off the season against SMU. Mayor Tom Martin also encouraged fans to wear red and black each Friday during the football season for "Raider Power Fridays."

Tubberville says the South Plains' enthusiasm for the coming season is fantastic. "The thing we want to do is we want to show people across the country, not just West Texas, or Texas, but the entire country, when that national TV camera comes on that there's a lot of spirit for this community, this team, this university," says Tuberville.
