LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Friday night lights kicked off with high school football games gearing up all across the south plains. With new rivalries and a new stadium, fans are fired up about the start of the season.
"I'm just so excited about this year. It's my senior year and it's a new field. It's going to be a blast," Lubbock-Cooper head cheerleader Brittany Johnson.
Lubbock-Cooper Pirates took on the Idalou Wildcats Friday night, breaking in the new stadium and filling the stands. "It's awesome. It's so nice," Lubbock-Cooper fans screamed.
The new field, indoor practice facility and new house field cost about $11 million dollars and can seat around 5,500 fans, and for many they'll continue to fill the stadium all season. "I'm looking forward to homecoming. It's going to be completely packed," said Johnson.
